This part of the site is David's personal bit featuring his alter-ego's as a painter, and past / present musical ventures before and alongside LightGarden.

DM: "I did a degree in both painting and music, back at the beginning of the 1990s, one of the very last such courses available in the UK, at Bretton Hall, part of Leeds University. Basically a great way of passing three years while wondering how it might be possible to make some kind of living doing these things. I've always been fascinated by the connections and ways in which hands-on music-making meets tactile visual media: paint, inks, charcoal, glue and so on. Also, the similarity between a performance (musician+audience+music), and making a painting (materials+subject/environment+painter). The best outcome in both cases is a wonderful union of all the elements.

From then until around 2006, my life involved painting from an idyllic hideaway in the depths of the glorious North Yorkshire Moors, documenting the landscapes and seasons as well as exploring more personal themes through for example, the "Buddha Paintings". The main outlet for musical creativity in this period was putting together, touring and recording several albums with what turned out  to be a much loved Whitby based folk-type band by the name of Banoffi, more anon.
In 2009 I relocated to Wiltshire having played concerts in the area for several years. It was time for me to live where there are more people than sheep, and more outlets for creative endeavours. I was very pleased to win the Corsham Print Prize in the 2009 Pound Arts Open exhibition, and I took part in the 2010, 2014 and 2016 Cloth Road Arts trails, the Parallax Art Fair in Chelsea (2014), and exhibited at the Pewsey Gallery (2013, 2015). I have recently been exploring the Wiltshire landscape and begun the process of assimilating it into my work...."
